This past November my dear & talented friend Tonia Kim, who creates the gorgeous Toki line, participated in a truly unique event here in Chicago called Dose Market. It is the best (and only) market geared specifically towards food & fashion. It is a curated monthly event that exhibits a stellar line up of talented folk; one that I am so honored to be a part of! The event was such a huge success for both of us that we were chomping at the bit to do it again. My latest home project is the installation of a vertical garden on our back porch. I’ve been obsessed with them ever since seeing this one at Capitol in Charlotte, NC, designed by French landscape architect Patrick Blanc. Images from here.

After giving birth to our son Alexander William on December 27 (those who want the gory birthing story, please email me. Believe me, I don’t expect any takers.), and absolutely minimal recovery time, I finally finished the latest collection, just in time for my whirlwind trip to New York during February’s market week where myself and 4 other magnificently talented designers set up our own temporary showroom. It was an amazing experience. I met exceptional women: buyers whose stores I have coveted for years; designers whose vision is so clear it gives me chills; and those warm “friends & family” who came to our sale on closing night. Here are a few pieces that got a lot of attention.

On my last visit to Seattle for my trunk show at Hitchcock, I stayed with my dear friend Elizabeth and her family on the beautiful island of Bainbridge. It’s so picturesque and reminds me so much of Norway. Elizabeth and I went on a lovely walk with her daughter Arden and their weiner dog, Sizzles (appropriately named, don’t you think?), along the shoreline of the island, admiring views of the city in the distance. I was committed to finding a souvenir from my trip; so I searched and searched for the perfect rock from the beach to bring home with me. I ended up finding two, and did not even realize until I got them home that they are the perfect pair. . .like a mother and child, the smaller one is an inverse of the larger one. Beautiful! Here they are in their new home, my bedside.
